We offer prayer for individuals and situations and we invite you to share with us any needs you know of.
Please just e-mail us a brief note of anyway in which we can help with prayer - a name or a situation would be enough. This e-mail goes direct to a group which meets solely to exercise this ministry of prayer.

Time for Peace is a new venture dreamed up by ten MUC members who want to explore different ways of spirituality. On a Wednesday evening, initially through Lent, the Church is open from 5.30 till 7.00 pm. Come in and you will experience music, stillness, pictures, poetry, an opportunity to pray, meditate - whatever you like. And the important thing is, you can do as much or as little as you like, and you can come and go as you please. Would you like more information? You could speak to Jenny Williams or John Smith or e-mail

To mark the bi-Centenaries of Schumann and Chopin, the Edinburgh Chamber Orchestra - augmented to the number of 46 and turning into a symphonic orchestra - played a concert of their music. An appreciative audience enjoyed the Symphony No 3 in E flat (The Rhenish) by Schumann. Then we heard Chopin's Polonaise in A major (Op 40), before being enthralled by the magnificent playing of guest soloist Sylvia Jen in the Piano Concerto No 1 in E minor. (Op 11)
The concert was directed and conducted by Dr Alberto Massimo. Sylvia Jen was born in Taiwan and brought up in South Africa. She is the holder of many prizes and awards. She recently was awarded first prize at the Bamber/Galloway Piano Competition.

This was the day when the Church School presented the story of the birth in Bethlehem. It had some moments - the innkeeper seemed to take over the role of midwife, two of the kings appeared to come from a magical kingdom of giants, there seemed to be thousands of angels. But the shepherds, (shepherds in Israel known to Old Testament scholars to be real rough characters and often villains) in our case behaved impeccably.
- Also today we welcomed back Janet de Vigne - fresh from her role in "Slumdog Millionaire" - who sang for us "Rejoice greatly" from Messiah, and Schubert's "Ave Maria". Stunning soprano work!
