Who We Are

+We are rooted in our Christian heritage and guided by traditional creeds, such as those from the Church of Scotland and the United Reformed Church both of which we are a part.

+We come together as the primary expression of our community weekly in worship around the one God who unites us in all our diversity.

+We intentionally seek to be inclusive and open to dialogue and not to draw boundaries. We all bring our convictions and our doubts, mutually supporting one another as the body of Christ.

+As a result, we are an eclectic mix of people from almost every Christian background and many nations. We have strong ecumenical ties with our neighboring Scottish Episcopal congregation, Christ Church, including sharing a youth worker and associate minister.

This statement does not tell the whole story of who we are. You are always welcome to come and see!

Study and Reflection

Our congregation offers a number of study and reflection opportunities each year.

This autumn, our book group is starting up again this time reading Walking the Story by Jane Leach about one author's experience walking the pilgrim journey of Santiago de Compostela. The book group meets fortnightly on Thursdays at 7:30 beginning 2 October at the MUC Upper Room.

We will also have a day of prayer and reflection at Carbery Towers on 1st November led by specialists in Ignatian Spirituality.

In the last year, we have had a book group meet regularly for lively discussion and a lenten study on the environemnt and the care of God's creation.

In the past we have had study days at Carbery Towers sharing in a retreat on the work of George Herbert and John Donne, and on the images and music of Advent; our book group has met to read some christian mysticism, and we have looked at the power and effectiveness of language with one of our members - a professional linguist - who is involved in codifying languages in Indonesia, Africa, etc.
